Preservative AI is not finished. It is a living practice — and the four things it needs are the four things you can do.

What the practice requires

Critique

Where does it flatten? Whose voices does it still erase? The framework's strongest possible validation is being caught by its own method. A critique that names a specific flattening, with evidence, is a first-class contribution — the limitations page is the standing acknowledgement that such critiques exist to be found, and its list is itself auditable.

Adaptation

How does it work in Arabic, Quechua, Yoruba, Bengali? Honestly: not yet, and not by translation. Suffixscape's patterns are English grammar; the lenses carry Western categorical assumptions. An adaptation is a fork with authority — community co-auditors who change the instruments, not just the labels. Each language the framework genuinely works in is a test passed; the current count is one.

Extension

What lenses are missing? What diagnostics need refining? Eight lenses and four diagnostics are a version, not a canon — and four candidate lenses are already named as absences: Ecological Intelligence, Somatic Knowledge, Mathematical/Formal Knowledge, Developmental Epistemology. A new lens needs the question it asks, the class of absence it alone detects, and a scoring rubric (the researcher's path). A refined diagnostic needs the pattern, the detection method, and the innocent uses that discharge it.

Co-Authorship

Scholars, journalists, communities, developers, critics. The methodology's claim to structural plurality is only as good as the plurality of its authors — and authorship here means named, compensated, with editorial authority, per the governance model. The current author list is the framework's most visible gap.

Not a brand

You are invited to walk through, map the room, and leave the door open.

The name is lowercase-definite on purpose: the other AI — the practice that could sit beside any system, rather than a product that competes with one. There is nothing to buy, no partnership to negotiate, no permission to seek. The licence (CC BY-SA 4.0) and the stance file are the entire onboarding.

The standing instruction

Concretely, in ascending order of commitment:

1. Run it once. Take the auditor prompt or the tools, point them at any communication that matters to you, and see what surfaces.
2. Audit us. Run the eight lenses and four diagnostics on this site. Findings — including the embarrassing ones, especially the embarrassing ones — belong in the public record.
3. Fork the stance. Generate your own stance file, change what your context requires, publish it at a stable URL, and let your users hold you to it.
4. Publish your version. A regional adaptation, a new lens, a better diagnostic, a domain guide this site lacks — share-alike, attributed, and from then on part of the lineage that the next fork acknowledges.

The framework points toward the room. The room is not in the framework.

Everything this methodology can do ends at the doorway: it makes absences inspectable. What happens in the room — the voices actually sought, the institutions actually changed, the chairs actually filled — is not methodology. It is the part only you can do.
